COM 490 Internship Checklist

- COM 210 – Media Storytelling – CV page from COL updated
- COM 210 – Media Storytelling – Biography page written, then refreshed in COM 353
- COM 210 – Media Storytelling – Two (2) Writing samples in separate posts
- COM 240 – Communication and Media Ethics – Essay
- COM 261 – Communication and Media History – Oral history assignment
- COM 280 – Applied Digital Communication – Final project layout (design, graphic, text, logo etc. files)
- COM 360 – Communication & Media Research – Paper/Project
- COM 441 – Communication and Media Law – Research paper
- Capstone Course (specialization-specific)
- COM 451 – Integrated Strategic Communication – Final campaign document
- COM 457 – Senior Project in Visual Communication – Final video project

ePortfolio DUE Next Week!
E-Portfolio requirements
ePortfolios are a required measurement of CCMS curriculum and the accreditation process.
Every student must complete their e-portfolio to be able to graduate. The portfolios will be evaluated.
1. Every student must upload:
1 faculty assigned and approved assignment from:
- Core Courses
- COM 210 – Media Storytelling (this is the course where the student CV, bio and one writing sample are completed)
- COM 240 – Communication and Media Ethics
- COM 261 – Communication and Media History
- COM 280 – Applied Digital Communication
- COM 360 – Communication & Media Research
- COM 441 – Communication and Media Law
- Capstone Courses (chose the applicable one)
- COM 451 – Integrated Strategic Communication
- COM 457 – Senior Project in Visual Communication
- COM 475 – Planning and Promotion for Events and Festivals
- COM 481 – Advanced Converged Media
- Arabic Courses
- ARA 2/340 – Media Storytelling in Arabic I & II
2. All COM 210 Media Storytelling sections receive training in the following:
- Naming their ePortfolio
- Creating and publishing their third-person biography page
- Creating and publishing their CV/Resume page including a PDF version for download
- Uploading and linking their required files/media
- Properly formatting their assignment posts
- Populating/Updating their navigation menu
- (Adding/removing widgets, tweaks to design – time permitting)
3. In COM 490 Internship, the Internship Adviser will review student ePortfolios.
- Students must finalize the portfolio in the first 3 weeks of COM 490 for export to a package file.
4. Additional recommendations
- e-Portfolios should also contain:
- Certificates for academic achievement, service/volunteering, and positions in clubs etc.
- Links to mentions, records, articles etc. in which the student is named or Zayed University participation has been noted
- Links to existing business or professional sites used by the student
- Scans of papers or physical articles
- (List of classes or transcript)

Meeting 12:30 Thursday Jan 28!
Dear Spring Interns,
Tomorrow all POTb CCMS interns will be meeting in R-L1-071 from 12:30-1:30.
Agenda items.
1. ePortfolio Jack Frizzell will be joining us to go over, one last time, what is expected of you for your ePortfolio and walk you through any process issues you are having, please bring your computer.
2. Update on the placement process and new sites to consider.
3. A quick chat about email, phone etiquette and 1st impressions.
One last thing, girls there are several EXCELLENT PR sites that are very interested in having ZU students that have been in contact in the last week.

Back January 10th!
Girls we will be back on the 10th of January.
We will be responding to all questions from Sunday onward.
Most interns will be going out in POTb.
If you submitted your documents your CV has been sent out and that means we are now waiting for the sites to respond and ZU HAS NO CONTROL OVER HOW FAST OR SLOW A SITE RESPONDS.
Enjoy the weekend and we will speak after the 10th.
